Ok, so when summer began, I said I would:
- make cards -- I did, but I suppose I could have made more.
- take lots of photos -- I took a lot when I wasn't at home, but not a lot while I was here. And only yesterday did I start messing with Photoshop and some Actions. I should have done that sooner.
- catch up on my favorite TV -- Fail. Stupid digital TV and no summer reruns.
- read (that list in another post -- because it's long!) -- never even got to the list of books! Ha! I got through a few that I wanted to read and a few that weren't on the list. A few magazines -- mostly People (does that count as reading?!)
- spend lots of time with my friend Amanda and her kids, the cousins, and anyone else who wants to sit by the pool! -- I'm too paranoid of skin cancer for TOO much time in the sun, but this heat has pushed me out there the past few days. I'd like to keep an afternoon pool/reflection routine into the fall. It's a great way to unwind after a long day.
- sleep --NAILED this one. 10 hours of sleep a night most nights. Which means next week is going to be HARD.
- write some Sunday school curriculum -- um, sort of. I started, but didn't want to waste time if it wasn't going to be used, so it got put on the back burner.
- write that book I keep talking about -- nope. Epic fail. See my goals below!
- go to Minnesota for a week - Done! We had so much fun. This year was SO much better than my last trip there. Got to see a few more sights...bonded...and it wasn't super hot!
- go to Tulsa for a week -- for Leah's wedding and to show my lovely boyfriend off to some other friends --Done! So much fun too! And -- the boyfriend became the fiance, so all the more reason for friends to meet him! It was a great trip for us too -- really getting to be together for an extended amount of time.
- work on my condo -- just little things -- decided to put this on hold until the fiance becomes the husband and moves in. That way he can help! Well, Dad and I did paint the bathroom and put up a new towel bar and tp roll. It looks and feels fresh!
- try to find a way to keep my condo -- since there is a wedding coming up, we decided to wait on this too. Lots of friends are in the same position. Are we all SOL? I hope not. Soon...I'll start that paper work to get federal help.
- relax and do nothing (this list counts as nothing!!) -- CHECK!
And so, since a new season begins, so do new goals.
- Write a little every day, since the book idea seems overwhelming. I'm mostly going to write about school -- to keep my own head up about what good I do. And, for now, privately. Maybe I can be like Julie from Julie and Julia (highly recommend!)
- Work from 7-5. And keep work at work. And home (read: wedding/marriage planning) at home. Because I tend to blur the two and get overwhelmed.
- Get running again. Slacker.
- Keep perspective and boundaries. This is a goal at the beginning of every year, and every year, by Thanksgiving, I've failed. I feel much better and ready to aim high this year.
More to come, I'm sure.
