The First Month

It seems hard to believe that it's been more than a month since our little angel was born.  We look at him everyday in disbelief that he is ours to keep.  He really has been an angel.   He only has meltdowns when I'm home alone with him for a sustained period of time.  Every visitor, every outing, every unusual circumstance we come across, he sleeps soundly or coos for the crowd.  It's amazing.

Check out those claws.  I couldn't believe how long his nails were when he was born.  I could feel them scratching me inside (of course, no one believes that this is possible, but seriously, can you see those nails?!)  We file them, pull them, but they grow pretty fast.
Still his favorite position to sleep in.  Of course, now I have to use the sling so that I can sometimes accomplish a few things...

His daddy pretty much adores him.  He'd hold him every minute of everyday if he could.  But I make daddy shower occasionally, and Audric doesn't need to shower that often!
He's much more alert these days.  I love this face - and all the looking around he does.  He's beginnning to feel like a real person and not just a baby!
So my cousin gave us this GIANT cow.  At first I thought I wanted to use it for photos...but we took this one and the hubby thinks it looks like one of those creepy costumed people outside the fair or something.  I'll admit, I see more creepy cow than cute baby.  I think we'll change up that idea.

At about week three, when he started finding a schedule (well, I started implementing a schedule for him) and we only woke 2-3 times a night, I began to feel like I was getting my life back.  Exponentially better than before, but I could go for walks, go out with friends, go to the pool for the afternoon (not the adult pool, but in the sun still).  We've taken two little trips: one to Lake Arrowhead with my Aunt and Cousin. It was a relaxing getaway and baby slept lots (my aunt says the mountain air makes us hungry and sleepy. Maybe that was my problem in high school!)  Then, daddy got a job in San Diego so we went with him and played when he wasn't working.  We walked A LOT and Audric slept in the stroller and ate when we could find a secluded corner.  I didn't master pubic nursing, but got better at it for sure.  It's nice having a flexible kid!
