All truth

We have all been discussing the nature of truth. That all truth is God's truth. Truth isn't separate from God. The lead teacher at my church says this often. And in his book Jesus of Suburbia he reminded me how the church forgets to teach its young people that. Instead, well meaning, protective parents only buy "Christian" music, clothes, cars, and only use "Christian" plumbers and services so that their children are protected from the lies of the world.

Then these children go out into the world, to, say, public universities, and discover that there are other things out there. Other music, clothes, cars, and plumbers who aren't "Christian." And when these "children" discover that these clothes, cars, music and plumbers aren't so bad, they think they have to reject their faith. And they do. Because they weren't taught to think critically. They assumed that Mom and Dad were deluded, that Christians are just labels.

Lots of things, besides the book have me thinking about this. My boyfriend is making a movie this week where many "truths" of the Christian church are earmarked for their ridiculousness. I opened this blog and I thought it SO true, but how my mom would say that it was "new age." Maybe I don't understand the New Age movement. Maybe its the existentialist in me (my generation can't help it really, can we?). But why isn't being generous a good thing? Why isn't understanding anger as really being sadness a good thing? Can't these things be true -- even if their motive/root/result isn't the same?

But, I will forever argue that truth is truth is truth is truth. You can't argue real truth.
