Positivity

Here's a list of all the great things that happened this week:

Most of my students passed the HS Exit Exam. The other 60 kids that didn't aren't ELD students. That means we're doing something right.

My kids CELDT scores all went up (California English Language Development Test). They're getting it.

Abour 45 of my 50 students turned in final papers -- finished. I don't even care if they are good papers. They did it!

After a day in the library, with other classes present, I realized how lucky I am, or how demanding I am maybe, to have such well behaved students. Seriously, I say "I have an announcement" and it's dead silent. All eyes are on me and I speak, amazed that I can command so much control in so little time. How'd I do that?

Good conversations with students: sex was the topic, but they heard me. I appreciate that students now trust me to talk about serious stuff.

God moved. I'm the department chair again for next year, and although I don't want to be, I know I'm supposed to be. May I decide to be a leader and do it well.

I started graduate classes and I think they are going to be fun, and I'll make more money next year!
