I've been thinking about modern day heroes. Who do we hold highly? Of course, some people (though not many) might say that Donald Trump is their hero, but I'm not sure they mean that. A soldier might be a hero, but I don't know any personally (right now), so I can't really claim that.
I found one of mine. Yesterday I went with church to Mexico where we met Spectrum Ministries before heading into Mexico. The fun part was that my closest friend from childhood through college, runs the ministry. So I surprised him: he's the one in the photo on the bus. And, I believe, he's my hero. My hero because he loves what he's doing. And he's good at it. He found God's calling for his life and he went for it, with no regrets. People admire him, God blesses him, and he's happy. That's my kind of hero: someone who does all that God asks of them without complaint or regret. And, he makes me think about my own attitude about my career. Am I doing what God called me to do? Yes. Do I have a good attitude about it? Not most of the time.
Of course, Aaron is my hero too because he knows everything -- good and bad -- about me, and loves me anyway. Friends like that can't help but be our heroes.
